Andy’s Music…
NEW ALBUM: Blue Morpho… available now from my Bandcamp site as well as iTunes and all the streaming platforms.
Andy Copeman is a visionary musician, sound healer, sound and video artist, shamanic practitioner and recording engineer and producer. Instruments include voice, guitars, keyboards, programming, cittern, bass, percussion, tin whistle, Native American flute, kora, ngoni, saz, pipa, frame drum, chacapa, medicine drum, charango, ba wu, fiddle, didgeridoo, singing bowls etc.
With his beloved Laurel Bay Tree he lives in Maleny in South-east Queensland. Together, they work with deep meditation processes, Shamanic healing, breathwork, sweat lodges, and sound healing.
His music career started with church choir and piano lessons at age 7. He would borrow his brother’s guitar around the same time … and very quickly that became his preferred instrument. At school, he (briefly) studied violin, trumpet, tuba, flute, clarinet and timpani as well as singing in choirs and musicals. In his spare time he studied classical, folk, blues and rock guitar… forming his first band at the age of 16.
Dalliances with hard rock and punk were followed by a long relationship with Celtic and Australian folk music … which led to a deep dive into the “world music” of Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Scandinavia and some other places. This included several recordings as well as tours to many festivals around Australia. For around 10 years he also worked with ABC Radio National, making music programmes (The Nightly Planet, The Daily Planet & The Weekend Planet) focussed on world music, jazz, blues, country, folk and many other styles.
At the age of around 40 he started hearing and studying music that was intended for healing, and that has been his sole focus since then.
“I used to be a folk musician: telling everybody how bad the world was in the hope that they would get angry enough to fix it. Now, I play music for healing: telling everybody how wonderful this world is, and I watch them fall in love with it. It’s a much more effective strategy!”
He has recorded many albums of music for healing, and performs at festivals and concerts as well as healing retreats and individual sound healing sessions. His recordings are available on Bandcamp. Feel free to click on the links on this page.
His music is also available through Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music and all the other music platforms.
